Catchment system for swamp water at a pumping station

Índice del post

Application
Construction of a floating water catchment system feeding a pumping station for irrigation.
This was an emergency intake system installed because of low water levels in the reservoir that fed the stationary pumps on land.

Characteristics
The installation comprised approximately 500m of polyethylene PE-HD piping with a diameter of DN700 and a nominal pressure of PN10.
Huelva Plastics was responsible for the supply and assembly of the piping, the mounting of the pumps, and the design and manufacture of the floating walkway and dock.

Operating Conditions
The maximum operating pressure was 2 bar, to convey a total flow of 9100m3/h.
A critical factor was the design of the dock, which had to withstand the torque of the 375KW water pumps.
The operating fluid was water.

Material
The material for the pipes was polyehylene PE-HD.
Due to its geometry, the junction to the discharge was reinforced with FRP.
