High pressure micro filtration rack

Índice del post

Application
Manufacture of high pressure microfiltration units (MF), to be installed upstream of a reverse osmosis system (RO).
These units are part of a system for eliminating sulphides from seawater in the context of a water treatment plant for the extraction of crude oil on an off-shore platform.

Characteristics
The filtration racks are based on a piping system made from FRP, with principal diameters of DN200 y DN150.
Huelva Plastics was responsible for the manufacture and installation of the pipes, and also of the metal structure (AISI 316L).
Altogether, eight units were made.

Operating Conditions
These plants are designed for a maximum operating pressure of 12 bar, although the operating pressure chosen was 18 bar. The systems were tested hydrostatically to 24 bar.
The operating fluid is seawater, with an acidic cleaning solution.

Material
The piping system was manufactured from FRP, with a bisphenol-A type vinylester epoxy resin DERAKANE 411/350 throughout the laminate.
