Application
Construction of a storage system for crude phosphoric acid with a capacity of 500 tonnes.
The construction of the tank was complicated by its location, which was enclosed in pipe rack structures.
Characteristics
The storage tank is constructed of FRP, and has a capacity of 500m3 (diameter 7600mm).
It was built in situ using PH Technology own technology.
Operating Conditions
The atmospheric storage tank is designed for a maximum temperature of 55°C.
The operating fluid is crude phosphoric acid, witha maximum concentration of 30% P2O5. Hydrofluoric and sulphuric acids are also present.
Material
The system was constructed using a bisphenol-A DERAKANE 411/350 vinylester resin based FRP throughout the laminate.
The design of the tank’s sealing barrier required special attention, in order to minimize the effects of the diffusion of hydrofluoric acid.
