Application
Installation of a storage system for dilute sulphuric acid (up to 32%), with an initial capacity of 1000 tonnes, expandable to 1500 tonnes.
The system was supplied complete by PH Technology as a turnkey installation.
The system consisted of two storage tanks, a pipeline connection to the plant, instrumentation and control systems, and civil engineering works.
Characteristics
The main elements of the plant were the two storage tanks of 450 m3 capacity (diameter 7600mm) manufactured from FRP. These tanks were constructed in situ using PH Technology own technology.
The piping system was also manufactured by PH Technology.
Operating Conditions
The storage tanks are atmospheric, and were designed for a maximum operating temperature of 50°C.
The stored fluid is dilute (32%) sulphuric acid.
Material
The tanks were manufactured in bisphenol-A type vinylester resin DERAKANE 411/350 based FRP throughout the laminate.
The same resin was used for the dual composition manufacture of the piping system, with PVC-U as a liner.
